Expedition Serras do Sul do Brasil

The mountainous region of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul are part of a geological formation known as Serra Geral, which was formed in theera  from the breakup of continents and intense volcanic activity

On the Route Serras do Sul do Brasil we will visit threeareas  of permanent preservation, the São Joaquim, Serra Geral and Aparados da Serra National Parks

The Serras Gaúchas and Catarinense are united in one of the most incredible natural settings in Brazil

Serras do Sul Adventure Winter Expedition

​

With spectacular scenery, the Serras Gaúchas and Catarinense have paths and natural beauties to be explored, on roads that cross the fields at the top of the mountain, old drovers' paths, where the Araucaria Forest dominates the landscape.

 

The Serras do Sul do Brasil Expedition contemplates one of the highest and coldest regions in Brazil, with altitudes close to 2,000m in the municipality of Urubici  in the mountains of Santa Catarina. In addition to the exuberance of nature in the mountains, canyons, rivers, waterfalls surrounded by the Araucárias Forest and Campos de Cima da Serra and the São Joaquim National Park. Among the highlights of the itinerary are the mountains of Rio do Rastro and Serra do Corvo Branco, the spectacular views of Cânion Espraiado, Morro do Campestre and Morro da Igreja, and the beauty of Cachoeira do Avencal and Rio dos Bugres in a beautiful off road access .

 

In the Rio Grande do Sul part of the itinerary, we will visit two National Parks (Aparados da Serra and Serra Geral) famous for the beauty of their canyons, the largest and most spectacular in Brazil. Our itinerary includes a visit to Itaimbezinho and Fortaleza in the city of Cambará do Sul, we will also visit the city of São José dos Ausentes and the highest point in Rio Grande do Sul, Monte Negro peak.

Roteiro 

Day 1– Florianópolis – Serra do Rio do Rastro, one of the most spectacular mountains in Brazil with its 284 curves. Lunch at the Cascata restaurant and transfer to the Municipality of Urubici. Visit to Avencal Waterfall and Morro do Campestre. Check in at Pousada Serra do Panelão and dinner.Displacement 326km

Day 2-Breakfast after leaving the Espraiado Canyon, with a visit to the infinite swing and a view of the canyon. visit to Morro da Igreja with lunch stop at Morro da Igreja Restaurant and Serra do Corvo Branco. Inn and dinner.Displacement 120 km

Day 3 -Breakfast – Rio dos Bugres waterfall return and lunch at Parador Santo Antônio. Afterwards, we will travel to São Joaquim, where after visiting the center, we will go to the Vila Francioni winery for a guided tour. Overnight in the city of São Joaquim.Displacement 110 km

Day 4-São Joaquim – São José dos Ausentes – Monte Negro Canyon -  Rural accommodation at Fazenda Montenegro with country dinner. (Pic Nic in the canyon).Displacement 67km

Day 5 -After breakfast, we will visit Boa Vista Canyon and Amola Faca (Encerra). Lunch at the Altos da Serra Restaurant and visit the center of São José dos Ausentes and travel to Cambará do Sul. Check in at Pousada Corucacas. Gaucho barbecue.Displacement  110 km

6th -Serra Geral National Park –  Cânion Fortaleza, lunch in Cambará do Sul –  National Park  Aparados da Serra C (free time to do the Elbow Trail)  Displacement  52 km

Day 7-Water Circuit: Cachoeira dos Venâncios, – Passo da S and Passo da Ilha. Pic Nic time.Displacement 89 km

  • The Experience itinerary is intended for 4x4 vehicles

  •   Andes Experience, aiming at the safety of passengers and vehicles and the smooth running of the Expedition as a whole, may cancel any river crossing or access due to force majeure or weather conditions.

  • As we are in a region with a cold climate and a lot of fog, even in summer we recommend being prepared with suitable clothes and equipment
